Review: Wolford Colette Tights

Moving on to the second article of the vintage series, I’d like to look at an open-knit tights from Wolford.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ A classic fishnet design rearranged for a modern look.
⊕ More dense knitting at the toe section preventing toes protruding out.

Packaging & product description

I have made a short clip for unboxing:

The format of the front cover only differs slightly from the current one.  It is the size chart at the rear cover that gives its age.  Furthermore, the tag on the rear inner side of the waistband is in black colour.  Such shade was used by the Brand for many, many years before they switched it to white.

Materials used for packaging.

Appearance & texture

The panty is semi-sheer, featuring fine pinstripe on a shape like a boxer brief. The hose is fishnet design with large openings.

Impression

FIT

The tights isn’t particularly long, measuring 64cm from waistband to toe for size M.  But this doesn’t affect fitting, as the tights are very stretchy (20% elastane).

The waistband is elastic band with Wolford signature on it.  There is also a separately-knitted gusset.

The tag on the inner rear side of the waistband is in black colour.
LOOK

The hose being open-knit.  The material is total matt, i.e., no reflective sheen under hard light.  The video below was shot in soft light:

The colour is Aurora, which is bright, light yellow.  Other shades I know of for this style are turquoise blue and bright red.

A natural transition from semi-sheer panty to fishnet hose.

The tights do leave marks on the legs after wearing it for a while.

The toe section uses a separate knitting that resembles fishnet.

FEEL

Since the openings are quite large, the threads are noticeable during walking.  Needless to say, the breathability was excellent.

Final words

Fishnets are a classic among patterned tights and variations of such are common.  The Colette Tights feature bright, bold, shades that are particularly suitable for spring/summer.
