Review: GERBE Sunlight 15 tights

      Gerbe ceased their business earlier this year.  As a tribute, I’d like to share with you my last tights review for the Brand.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Especially wide panty and waistband, suitable for people with wide lower body.
⊕ Reinforced heel.

⊗ Feet made rather small.

Packaging & product description

      The packaging uses the standard cardboard, tri-fold cardboard and transparent plastic sleeve manner.  I have made a short clip for the unboxing:

Appearance & texture

      The Sunlight 15 is sheer tights (15 denier appearance) in shiny fashion.  It is sheer-to-waist.  The total length of the tight in size 3 is approximately 102cm long when laid on a flat surface.  The texture is relatively soft and silky to the touch.  The waistband measures 5cm wide.  There is also a 0.5cm-1cm wide fingerband, which also runs along both sides of the panty seam.  The distance from the tip of the waistband to the crotch is around 21cm.  There is a gusset.  Both the toe section and the heel are reinforced.

      The composition is 77% nylon, 22% elastane and 1% silk.

The feet are shaped.

      The size ranges from 0 to 5.  I have included the size chart below.  Size 3 is used for this review.

Colour

      I am not aware how many colours there were in the original place.  I bought Nuage colour, which is a nude hue, for this review.

Impression

FIT

      The fit was relatively fine and the envelopment was moderate.  The tights gently hugged the the lower body and the legs.  The tights didn’t feel particularly stretchy though, and would wrinkle around the knees after wearing them for a while.  On the contrary, the fit for the waistband was very good.

      One problem I had was the relative short length of the feet.  I am 171.5cm tall and my feet is 25.5cm long, which isn’t particularly large or wide for a man of such height.  Yet I had to pull very hard to have the reinforced heel sit at the right place.  Women that have the same height as men usually have smaller and narrower feet.  Hence maybe women would have a better fit on these areas.

The reinforced heel is stretched to its extreme.

LOOK

      The style is as the product description says, pretty shiny.  It was like wearing Wolford Satin Touch 20 tights in a slightly more transparent look.

      One worthy mention is the separately knitted toe and heel section.  GERBE uses a different knitting, hence looks matt and more transparent than rest of the hose.  This make the style particularly suitable with open-toe shoes.

      The colour was evenly distributed.  There was no snags or distortions found during unboxing.  GERBE’s quality really improved over the years, especially in the last few.

FEEL

      The tights felt relatively soft and silky.  It was pretty comfy apart from the feet, where I had to stretch the hose to its extreme so the heel would sit at the right place.  In addition, thanks to the sheer nature, the tights was pretty breathable.

Final words

      The Sunlight 15 tights provides a comfy feel, especially for people with wider waist.  The reinforced heel is itself a bonus.  However, its placement made the feet rather small, thus can be a problem for people with bigger feet.
