Review: Hēdoïne the STATEMENT tights

      Last November, Hēdoïne released two styles in opaque appearance.  One of which, is the limited edition STATEMENT seamless tights.  I have been trying it out in the last couple of days.  So, let’s have a look at it in detail.

      The pair was gifted from Hēdoïne.  However, I have 100% freedom of expressing my thoughts on these tights.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Brand’s name printed large and clear – ideal for logo-lovers.
⊕ Waistband sits firmly on the waist, no digging or bulging.
⊕ Wide, reinforced toe section allows toes to wiggle around.

⊗ Quite a few snags and distortions found during unboxing.

Packaging & product description

      The packaging is the same as the EDGY I reviewed before.  In brief, it comes in a hard cardboard box, which bears the Brand’s name and logo on the front cover.  The specifications of the tights are printed on a sticker that is attached on the back of the box.  The tights are carefully folded into a square shape and place in the box.

      There is no product description on the packaging; I have extracted the info from the website, which reads:

“Indulging the ego? Perhaps a little. But truly, this is your statement, not ours.

Choose between our shaping Hēdoïne waistband in low (9cm / 3.5 inches) or high (15cm / 6 inches). It won’t sag, roll or pinch, but it will support you night & day.”

Appearance & texture

      The STATEMENT is opaque tights (50 denier) in matte fashion.  The total length of the tights is 77cm when laid on a flat surface.  The tights are characterised by the Brand’s name showing on the right side of the right hose in gold colour.  The texture is not particularly soft or smooth to the touch.  I received the high waistband option, which measures 15cm wide.  The distance from the tip of the waistband to the crotch is 24cm.  There is no gusset and the toe section is reinforced.

      The composition is 88% nylon and 12% elastane.

Size range

      The STATEMENT is only made in M/L size.  It is available in both high and low waistband option.  I received the aforementioned size in high waistband option.

Colour

      The style is only available in one colour: Black with gold print.  Hence this was used in this review.

Impression

FIT

      The fit was relatively good.  The tights were not as stretchy as their sheer styles, hence I had to give it a good pull to properly place the panty.  It was also for this reason that I doubt it can fit people who are taller than 180cm.  

      The envelopment was relatively good.  There was a firm hung on the outer side of the upper thigh and on the calf.  The knitted waistband was slightly tight for me though.  I am looking forward for all my dance classes to be back online, so I can shake some of my fat away.

      In addition, the toe section was made wide, hence plenty of rooms for my toes to wiggle.

The knitting at the toe section is slightly different to the rest of the hose.

LOOK

      Unless one deliberately covers it, the Hēdoïne in gold is really hard to miss!  Logomania has been a trend since 2019 and there is no sign of fading.  Wearing the style does show one’s full support to the Brand.

      To check whether the print is durable or not, I tried to scratch it with my fingers.  The result showed tiny traces of gold-coloured powder stuck on my fingernails.  So it appeared to me that powder was used and stamped on the tights.  I had to scratch very hard though, hence I expect the tights to worn before the print weathers.

      The rest of the tights are like an ordinary pair of opaque tights except it is total matt, thus making my legs look solid dark.

      I found quite a few snags and distortions during unboxing.  Thankfully, they were hard to spot because of the tights’ opaque nature.

FEEL

      The tights felt like fine cotton, despite made primarily with nylon.  It was not particularly smooth or soft, but not rough either.  

      Given the outside temperature was 26°C, it’s really hard to give an objective feedback on its warmth and breathability capability.  I can say that the extra piece of cloth that the high waistband option provides did keep my tummy really warm.  I’d like to try it when it is cooler.  I will update this in due course.

Final words

      Personally, I like their sheer counterparts more for their stretchiness, feel and appearance.

      The Style is available on both waistband options (High & Low), in M/L size.  The original price is £48, €57.95 or USD$64, but it is discounted currently.

      If you prefer staying low profile, you can go for the BOLD 50 denier, which is exactly the same but without the Hēdoïne print.
