Review: Wolford Primrose 20 Leg Support Tights

I reviewed Wolford Satin Touch 20 Leg Support Tights a couple years ago.  It was one of my favourite leg support tights but it was discontinued.  Well, at least, that was what I perceived.  But I was wrong…  The style got renamed and is available in Wolford Outlet Shops.  So, let’s have a look at these leg support tights, for the second time.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Shape effect on the legs.
⊕ Light to medium support on the tummy.

⊙ Look and feel more like semi-sheer tights than a sheer one.

⊗ Waistband was rather tight.

Packaging & product description

The packaging uses a thin piece of cardboard, a tri-fold cardboard and a transparent plastic sleeve.  It is a standard for Wolford tights, and is illustrated in the images below.  There is a pink stripe on the top of the cover, meaning the style belongs to the Shape & Control range.  The product description and specifications are printed on the rear cover.

In case you are wondering how I know this style is the same as Satin Touch 20 Leg Support Tights, the answer is right here:

The description online and on the back of the packaging is the same.  It reads:

“Effective shimmer: These tights with leg support noticeably invigorate the legs and the delicate shimmer adds a feminine touch.”

  • Optimum pressure gradient from the ankle, right up to the panty section.
  • Wide, soft knitted waistband.

Appearance & texture

The Primrose 20 is sheer (20 denier appearance) tights in shiny fashion.  It belongs to Wolford’s Shape & Control range, with light support on the thigh and legs.  The total length of the tights measures 78.5cm when laid on a flat surface.  The texture is smooth to the touch.  It is elastic, yet with high tension when I try to expand such.  The knitted waistband is 6.5cm wide.  There is also a fingerband, which measures 4.5cm wide.  The distance between the top of the waistband and crotch is roughly 19cm.  There is a gusset, and the toe section is reinforced.

The composition is 80% nylon and 20% elastane.

Size range

The back cover suggested a size range between XS and XXL.  However, I doubt size XXL exists.  I have bought size S for this review.

At the time of writing this review, there is only Black available online.  I bought Sand colour at a Wolford outlet shop, and according to my vague recollection, there are other colours available.

The fit was relatively good and true to the size recommendation.  The tights were fully stretched for my height (171.5cm; 58.5kg).  To give you an idea of how elastic yet tense the tights are, both Primrose 20 and Satin Touch 20 tights were fully stretched for me.  Yet, the total length of the latter measures 98cm, while Primrose 20 is 78.5cm.

As you would have expected, the envelopment was firm, especially at the lower calf and lower thigh.  The waistband however, was a bit tight on my waist.  You could see from the images below that it dug in a little.

The appearance is very similar to Satin Touch 20 tights.  It is shiny even with ambient lighting.  The light support shaped the legs, making them look slimmer.  The effect is most prominent with black colour.

The tights did look like semi-sheer (30-40 denier appearance) than sheer.  This is partly due to the knitting being denser, and partly because the colour is very close to my skin tone.

The quality was just superb!  The colour was evenly distributed, the seams were right in place, and there was no snags elsewhere.  It is something you wouldn’t expect to find in an outlet, and with the price tag.

As I mentioned earlier, the tights gave a firm hug on the legs.  It was moderate to strong on the ankle and lower calf.  The compression gradually diminish towards the thigh, but doesn’t disappear.  In fact, I could feel the compression at the tummy and hips.  This was conceivable as Wolford uses the same knitting from toe to panty.

In addition to the look, the tights also felt like semi-sheer.  It was slightly thicker and packed with more weight.  This was especially the case when compared to Satin Touch 20 Tights.

Final words

If you are looking for sheer tights with light to medium leg support, I strongly recommend Primrose 20.  The quality and the effect surpass its dollar value!

Speaking of the price, the original is €24, £21 or USD$41 but they are now 60% off at the Online Shop.  I bought at the Outlet with 50% discount, which is also a bargain.

Thx for your Review. I bought some Primrose for about 15 € and I’m very happy with it. The elegant shimmer and the smooth texture is quite similar to the Satin touch. In fact the waistband is really tight and more suitable for woman than for men. The Primrose 20 is a good every day piece of nylon.
