In a previous review, we looked at the Chrissie Tights from Wolford. In this review, we will look at another pair of open-knit tights from the same Brand – the Early Haze Tights. It belongs to Wolford’s Spring/Summer 2019 Collection and comes in a special colour: pink.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Very comfortable open-knit waistband.
⊕ Smaller mesh at the toe section for better comfort.
⊗ Mesh self tangles easily.
Packaging & product description
The packaging includes a thin piece of cardboard, a tri-fold cardboard and a transparent plastic sleeve. It is a standard for Wolford tights. I have taken a couple of pictures, which are shown below.
The product description is identical online and on the back of the packaging. I have extracted it below, which reads:
“A perfect netted look: A cool over-the-knee effect is created thanks to the creative interplay between large and small-scale net. Seamless panty section and wide sewn-on waistband ensure a high level of comfort.”
- Matte Finish
- A unique Take on the net trend.
Appearance & texture
The Early Haze are open-nit, fishnet tights in matte fashion. The total length of the tights measures 73cm when laid on a flat surface. It is characterised by large and small-scale mesh. Separating the two meshes is a horizontal stripe, which sits roughly above the knee, giving an overknee effect. The texture are quite soft and stretchy to the touch. The knitted waistband is 5cm wide and has small, rectangular holes throughout. The length between the waistband and the crotch is 16cm. There is no gusset and the mesh at the toe section is made smaller for better comfort.
The composition is 80% nylon and 20% elastane.

Size range
The website suggests sizes ranging from XS to L. I have included the size chart below. Size S is used in this review.

Colour
At the time of writing this review, there are two colours available: Petal Rose and Black. I bought Petal Rose for this review.
Impression
FIT
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. The mesh was quite elastic, thus having a solid hug on the legs. Depending on how hard you pull the tights, the horizontal stripe can sit anywhere between lower and mid thigh. For me, it naturally sat at mid-thigh after a few stretches.
Wolford uses the same type of waistband for Fatal range on the Early Haze tights. These open-knit, wide waistband can stretch a little further, thus best suited for curvy waist or early pregnancy. I am not curvy (yet), hence the waistband fitted perfectly.
LOOK
The overknee look was quite obvious. I don’t particularly like it though, as it somehow made my legs look wider. Also, as the stripe sat on mid thigh, it made my legs look shorter.
The Petal Rose is a very light pink colour. Personally, I like it very much. I find the colour an easy match to my clothing and shoes, no matter they are light or dark-coloured. Also, I have a yellow skin tone with an olive undertone. The pink colour would stand out more if you have a darker skin tone.
One problem I had was that the mesh itself has a lot of tiny, “loose ends”, so they get tangled easily. This mainly happens when I took off the tights. The loose ends of the mesh would caught the waistband. I had to untangle them one by one, so as not to distort the mesh.
The inclusion of open-knit, wide waistband was indeed interesting. On one hand, the mesh concept extends from toe to waist. On the other hand, whether the wide waistband is appealing, I will leave the judgement to you.
FEEL
The tights felt fairly soft and pretty stretchy. It didn’t cause any itchy feel. The mesh at the toe section was made smaller. For this reason, my toes didn’t poke out.
The waistband felt almost pressure-free, and was very comfortable. Being an open-knit, it of course has a high breathability, yet provide little warmth.
Final words
The fishnet tights with a overknee effect can look stunning if you know how to style it.
The original price is €39, £39 and USD$67. But you can buy them at a discounted price now.
