Review: Oroblù Sensuel 20 tights

A couple months ago, I reviewed a pair of Veneziana Tights bought from TK Maxx in London.  Today, I look into another pair from the same store, a sheer tights from Oroblù.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Very good envelopment, like having a light support effect.
⊕ Run-resistant.
⊕ Wide colour selection.

– Matte appearance with reflective sheen.
– Especially long panty and toe section.

⊗ The thin cardboard has rough edges and the sleeve not completely sealed, leaving the tights vulnerable to damage.

Packaging & product description

The packaging is identical to the Oroblù Divine 10 tights I reviewed before.  In brief, the tights rolls around a thin cardboard and is wrapped in a plastic, transparent sleeve.  The item is then placed in an envelope made of cardboard.  You can preview the colour of the tights through the water drop shaped opening at the top of the envelope.  The product description, size chart and composition are printed on the rear.  There is one minor difference: the sleeve isn’t completely sealed, leaving the tights vulnerable to snag.

The description online and on the back of the packaging are very similar.  I have extracted the online version here, which reads:

“Sheer tights, made of yarn which give excellent wearability and grip. Flat seams, cotton gusset and size MAXI with dorsal stripe. Fixed.”

Appearance & texture

The Oroblù Sensuel 20 are sheer tights (20 denier) in matte fashion.  It is sheer to waist.  The tights measures 103cm from waist to toe, and 30cm from waist to crotch, when laid on flat surface.  The texture feels pretty smooth, but synthetic to the touch.  The knitted waistband measures 4cm wide, and the fingerband is 2cm wide.  There is no tag on the inner side of the waistband.  However, the tights did undergo boarding, hence it is not too difficult to differentiate front from back.  There is a gusset, and the toe section is reinforced.

The composition is 83% polyamide and 17% elastane.

Size range

There are 5 sizes available for this style, ranging from S to MAXI.  I have included the size chart below.  Size L is used in this review.

At the time of writing this review, there are 14 shades available for this style.  I have listed the colours below.  I bought Nearly Black for this review, which is actually not listed on the website.

Top line: Ambra, Black, Blue 11, Dore, Make Up, Moka, Nude.
Bottom line: Nude Look, Orient, Singapour, Smoke, Soft, Sun, Suntouch.

The fit was great.  The panty was made extra long, as I was able to pull all the way to the ribcage.  There was a very good envelopment both on the panty and on the legs.  It was as if I am wearing light support tights.  The waistband was slightly tight, and rolled down eventually.

The Nearly Black colour was like a dark grey colour, similar to Wolford’s anthracite shade.  Somehow, the look wasn’t especially elegant.  I am not sure if this has to do with the colour I chose.

Although described as sheer matt tights, The tights actually has a reflective sheen.  I have taken several images showing the sheen when shone by sunlight, which you can see below.

The pair I bought was already snagged before unboxing.  This was probably due to the rough edges of the thin cardboard.  Interestingly, the snag wasn’t that obvious once I put the tight on, and the tights didn’t run.

The toe section was made especially long, providing a larger coverage of the toes.  Such can be visible if you are wearing shoes with a shallow toe box.

Probably its weakest point.  The tights felt smooth, but somewhat synthetic to the skin.  Such feeling became more evident as it absorbs heat and contacts moisture throughout the day.  The tights also budge despite having 17% of elastane.  In addition, the tights has a good breathability.

Final words

I find the Oroblù Sensuel 20 tights a great value within its price range.  If the feeling of synthetic fibre doesn’t bother you, then it is a good buy.

The tights is available for €9.95, £8.95 or USD$16.  For your reference, I bought for £4.99 at one of the TK Maxx stores in London.

Love reading reviews of tights makes a difference to me if deciding to buy a certain brand and style. The 83% polyamide and 17% elastane content is another interest to me along with color choices being a daily tights wearer myself. Have matt tights myself usually I go more for the glossy look but fit, feel and look is important. These I would buy myself would be nice if they did something about the rough cardboard edges.
