Review: Oroblù Different 50 tights

Few months ago, Hosiery for Men posted an image of hugely discounted Wolford and Falke tights in TK MAXX, suggesting that you could find treasure there if you devote time and effort, and so I did.  Though I wasn’t lucky enough to find Wolford or Falke items, I did find some interesting stuffs.  The Oroblù Different 50 Tights being one of them.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Opaque, plain look, suitable for any occasion.

• Wide knitted waistband but can be too tight for people with larger waist.

⊗ Uneven colour distribution on the fold.
⊗ Stitches at the gusset wasn’t well-made.

Packaging & product description

The tights rolls around a thin cardboard and is wrapped in a plastic, transparent sleeve.  It is then placed inside a thick envelope made of cardboard.  One can see the colour of the tights through the water drop shaped opening at the top of the envelope.  The product description, size chart and composition are printed on the rear cover.  Product characteristics in additional languages are printed on the thin cardboard.

The product description is better described on the packaging.  I have extracted them below:

“Opaque tights, very comfortable, with anatomical top.  Very soft and even knit.  Flat seams invisible under clothing.  Cotton gusset.”

WAISTBAND: high, it never squeezes and remains perfectly positioned.
TOP: anatomical and comfortable, higher at the back.
LEG: shaped to fit perfectly without squeezing.
FOOT: foot shape ensures perfect fit.
TOE: flat seams to prevent any discomfort.

Appearance & texture

The Oroblù 50 are opaque tights (50 denier) in total matte fashion.  The total length of the tights is 90cm and the panty is approximately 30cm long.  The texture feels soft but not particularly smooth.  The knitted waistband measures around 9cm wide.  There is no tag on the inner-rear of the waistband to mark the rear.  The gusset is made from cotton and there is invisible toe (unreinforced).

The composition is 91% polyamide and 9% elastane.

Size range

The size ranges from S to XL.  I have included the size chart below.  Size L is used in this review.

At the time of writing this review, only Black is available.  I have purchased Black for this review.

Overall, getting the pair on was quite straightforward.  The tights underwent the boarding process during manufacture.  Therefore, I could still identify front from the back though there wan’t any tag or identification.  It was after the first wash that the front and back became less apparent.

The fit was true to its size recommendation and the envelopment was good.  The seam at the toe section was quite long, even for me, who have a wide feet.  It was not loose however, and you could direct the seam to the sole so to avoid the seam rubbing the side of the foot.

The knitted waistband is supposed to be the main characteristic but I found them tight and as a consequence, rolled down almost instantly.  This may partly due to additional weight I have gained during my travel. (my waist is 29″)

The look wasn’t very “different” I am afraid.  It was not that they are bad looking or looked cheap, but that they are modest, plain in appearance.  For this reason, they are best paired with more attractive clothing and accessories.

I noticed a distinctive black thin line running along the hose, where the fold is.  I immersed the tights in water for 15 minutes yet there wasn’t much residual dye, which was glad to know.  In addition, the yarn attracted lots of hairs.  Do put that in mind if you have pets or also have carpets at home like I do (see images below).

Although the tights wasn’t smooth to the touch of the fingers, it was fine on the legs.  The yarn still felt a bit synthetic though.  The finish of the stitching at the gusset was not properly done.  The protrusion was hard and kept stinging my inner thigh, which was quite annoying.  Hope this pair was just an odd one out.

Final words

The Oroblù Different 50 is characterised by a modest look, comfort fit and wide waistband.  For this reason, it is suitable for almost any occasion.  To ensure the best fit, do make sure your waist is not as large as mine.

The recommended retail price is €19.95 or £14.95.  I got it for £5 and there was plenty in stock, in quite a few TK MAXX I visited.  The range is also available in deniers of 15, 40 and 80.

Interesting review Oroblu hosiery I never had a problem with but then was from Oroblu site or ebay was even thinking of getting a pair of these. Shopped at TJ MAXX in the past never checked out the hosiery section always thought TJ MAXX was much of a seconds store like irregular to slight imperfect.

TY I will do that for sure usually I buy online cause of brand choices. Here unless I travel 45 minutes to the city might be able to get more brand choices and that’s a big might.
