Review: Falke Seidenglatt 15 tights

It is good to be back with Falke.  This time, we will look into super shiny tights – the Seidenglatt 15.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Pleasure to wear because of its extremely silky feel.
⊕ Comfortable pressure-free waistband.
⊕ Available in XXL size.
⊕ Under €15 or £14.

⊗ Short toe section left reinforcement somewhat useless.

Packaging & product description

The packaging uses the standard cardboard, tri-fold cardboard and transparent plastic sleeve manner.  The description, the size chart and composition are at the rear.  Other specs of the style are shown on the plastic sleeve using a sticker.  Neither the front cover nor the image at the rear clearly shows the style. If you want to take a closer look, the images in the online shop have a better resolution.

      The description online summarises all:

“These tights are real all-rounders. Ideally suited for business, leisure or festive clothing. You are guaranteed to turn heads. The charming, slight sheen flatters your legs with a slimming effect. Available in plus sizes. Innovative hygienic gusset made with a net structure in sizes S-L, a comfort gusset in sizes XL-XXL, and ladder-resistant toe. 15 den appearance.”

– Transparent sheer tights
– 15 den appearance
– Beautifully radiant legs
– Maximum comfort thanks to the perfect FALKE fit

Appearance & texture

The Seidenglatt 15 are sheer tights (15 denier) in shiny appearance.  It shines even in ambient light setting.  The tights are sheer-to-waist and have a very smooth and soft texture.  The hose do look especially wide when lay flat.  The knitted waistband measures 2cm wide and the Falke signature fingerband 3cm wide.  There is a hygienic, mesh gusset.  In addition, the toe section is reinforced.

The composition is 89% polyamide and 11% elastane.

Size range

The size ranges from S to XXL.  It is one of the few style that accommodate people up to 6’2” (187.96cm) tall.  I have included the size chart below.  Size M/L is used in this review.

At the time of writing this review, there are 10 shades available (see image below).  I have bought Cocoon for this review.

The fit was good and true to the size recommendation.  Although having a wide-looking hose, the envelopment was actually very good.  There was no bags around the knees or ankles after a whole day of wearing.  In addition, waistband was very comfortable and pressure-free.  A problem I had was the short toe section.  It only covered part of the toes and gradually moved out of place after some walking, making the reinforced toe somewhat useless.

Surely you won’t get unnoticed with these tights.  They are very shiny even in ambient light setting.  Such appearance and colour distribution was even throughout, exhibiting a high-quality finish.  I find the shiny effect tend to enlarge the legs a bit.  Thus I recommend going for dark colours if you have curvy or muscular legs.

The tights indeed felt very smooth and silky.  It is perhaps the silkiest tights I have ever worn.  Do be careful when walking on polished surface though, as silky tights are usually more prone to slip.  The breathability is relatively good.

Final words

As the name implies, the Seidenglatt 15 is both shiny and silky.  They are very comfortable to wear and fits very well.  The only issue I had was the short reinforce toe.  Such short construction does appear in some Falke styles.

The Seidenglatt 15 tights is available throughout the year for €14-15 or £14.  This makes the tights one of the affordable tights made by Falke.  The range is also available in anklets and stay ups.
